Queenslanders to receive cost of living rebate on power bill

The Queensland Government have announced that Queensland electricity customers will receive a $175 Cost of Living Rebate on their power bill in 2022.

The Government announced the rebate on the same day that the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) Wholesale Markets Quarterly report outlined that electricity and gas prices have increased in the first quarter of 2022 (January to March 2022).

This trend is projected to continue through the rest of the year with Queensland remaining the most expensive region.

How will you receive your rebate?

The $175 Cost of Living Rebate will be automatically credited on your bill by your electricity provider. There is no need to apply. When your rebate appears on your bill will depend on your provider and your billing cycle.

The latest information we've received is that you should receive your rebate from September 2022, with all rebates received by December. If you are expecting the rebate and have not seen it on your bill, contact your electricity provider first. If you’re not getting the help you need, contact us.

Are you eligible for any other rebates of concessions?

Cost of living pressures, the impact of COVID-19 and rising energy prices have left many Queenslanders with higher bills at a time when reduced income has made it harder to keep on top of these bills. Check if you are eligible for any additional rebates or concessions.
