Angela Arico, Acting Energy and Water Ombudsman

Following the conclusion of Jane Pires' term as Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland in July 2026, Angela Arico has been appointed Acting Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland, as approved by the Governor in Council, while the recruitment process for the next Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland is undertaken.

With more than 15 years of executive leadership experience across the energy, waste and not-for-profit sectors, Angela brings extensive expertise in governance, organisational performance, customer-focused service delivery and stakeholder engagement. Throughout her career, she has successfully led organisational transformation, strengthened governance frameworks and delivered sustainable outcomes for customers, industry and communities.

Since joining EWOQ in 2025 as General Manager, Strategy, Operations and Governance, Angela has provided executive leadership across strategy, finance, ICT, policy, performance and risk, helping to strengthen the organisation's sustainability, capability and agility.

Angela is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and an Affiliate of the Governance Institute of Australia. She remains committed to ensuring EWOQ continues to provide free, fair and independent dispute resolution services for Queensland energy and water customers while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across the sector.
