Australian Financial Complaints Authority

The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) provide consumers and small businesses with fair, free and independent dispute resolution for financial complaints. From November 2018, AFCA is dealing with all complaints lodged with the Financial Ombudsman Service and Credit and Investments Ombudsman.

QLD Civil and Administrative Tribunal

QLD Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) is an independent tribunal which resolves disputes and makes and reviews decisions about a wide range of issues. Complaints may be about consumer and trader disputes or a debt dispute with a business or company.

Commonwealth Ombudsman

The Commonwealth Ombudsman investigates complaints from people who believe they have been treated unfairly or unreasonably by a Commonwealth Government department or agency, including the Australian Taxation Office, the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Defence Force. The Commonwealth Ombudsman is also the ACT Ombudsman.

Energy and Water Ombudsman South Australia (EWOSA)

Energy and Water Ombudsman South Australia (EWOSA) investigates and resolves disputes between South Australian electricity, gas and water customers and their providers.

Energy Ombudsman Tasmania (EOT)

Energy Ombudsman Tasmania (EOT) investigates and resolves disputes between Tasmanian energy customers and their providers.

Energy and Water Ombudsman Western Australia

Energy and Water Ombudsman Western Australia receives, investigates and facilitates the resolution of complaints from residential and small business customers in Western Australia about their electricity, gas or water company.

It's ok to complain

It's ok to complain is a joint initiative of the independent agencies responsible for handling complaints, listing various independent complaint agencies in Queensland and across Australia that will listen to you and investigate your complaint about government departments, local councils and private organisations.

Queensland Office of Fair Trading

The Queensland Office of Fair Trading safeguards consumer rights and advises business and traders on fair ethical practice.

Queensland Ombudsman

The Queensland Ombudsman is an independent complaints investigation agency. Its role is to make sure that Queensland's public agencies (State government departments and bodies, and local councils) act fairly and make the right decisions for Queenslanders.

Office of the Information Commissioner Queensland

The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) is Queensland’s independent statutory body established under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) to promote access to government-held information, and to protect people’s personal information held by the public sector.

OIC provides information and assistance to support Queensland public sector agencies to comply with the law, reviews agency decisions regarding access and amendment applications, deals with privacy complaints and makes decisions on whether an agency’s privacy obligations can be waived or modified in the public interest.

Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman

The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) is a national scheme which handles consumers' complaints about their telephone company or internet service provider.
