If you are applying to access information from the Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland under the Right to Information Act 2009, you may need to pay an application fee and processing charges, depending on the nature of your application.
Accessing non-personal information
If you are applying for access to information that is not your personal information, you may be required to pay an initial application fee of $38 before your application will be processed. It is recommended that you contact the Right to Information & Information Privacy Coordinator on 1800 662 837 to confirm if a fee is applicable prior to forwarding an application fee.
These charges may be in addition to the application fee:
- processing documents if your application takes longer than five hours to process ($5.80 for each 15 minutes or part thereof)
- photocopying documents (20 cents per photocopied page for each A4 black and white page) or, alternatively, for providing documents in electronic format on compact disc.
Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland may waive the processing charges associated with an application if an individual holds a current health care card or pensioner concession card under the Society Security Act 1991, or a pensioner concession card issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
RTI application fees and charges are in accordance with the Right to Information Regulation 2009 and are GST exempt.
Payment
Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland may waive the processing charges associated with an application, please call the Right to Information and Information Privacy Coordinator on 1800 662 837 prior to paying an application fee.
How long will it take?
Once your application and all of the requirements are received, the Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland must then make a decision about your application within 25 business days. A further 10 business days is added for consultations with third parties pursuant to section 37 of the RTI Act.
Accessing personal information
If you are applying for access to information that is your personal information, you do not need to pay an application fee, but access charges may be payable.
Amending personal information
If you are applying under the
Information Privacy Act 2009 to amend your personal information, you do not need to pay an application fee or access charges.
